Jill Olsen, Ed. D.

  Dr. Olsen has been a member of Rotary since 2000. She has served on the club’s Board of Directors for 5 years including serving as Program Chair and Service Chair. She has an extensive education career including teaching and administration. She was the Iowa Teacher of the Year (1995), Iowa Ambassador for Education (1996), U.S. Excellence in Teaching Award Delegate to Russia (1997) and a Fulbright Scholar to Japan (1999). She is a recognized leader in volunteerism and service learning. She currently is Executive Director of Instruction for a local school district and serves as an instructor in the graduate teacher program for Graceland University.

Dr. Olsen received her B.A. from Rutgers University, Camden, New Jersey; M.A.T from Winthrop University, Rock Hill, South Carolina; Ed.S. Ed.D. from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. Her area of research is in the field of women’s leadership in education and will be presenting a paper on this topic at Oxford University, England in the summer 2007. She speaks French and has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the U.S., and lead student groups yearly either to France or Russia from 1988-2002.

Jill is divorced and has a married daughter (25) and a son (23) who farms. She would like to interact with professionals in school undergraduate education and administration particularly in the area of service learning. Her interests include gardening, agriculture, cooking, volunteering, the arts, and her two housecats. She would appreciate an opportunity to visit the DMZ.

Kevin Roiseland

  Kevin is Director of International Student Programs at Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. Prior to moving home to Waverly, he had a similar position as an International Student Advisor at the Art Institute of Illinois in Chicago, Ill.

Kevin is single. He speaks Spanish and French and has worked with many students from around the world, including South Korean students, advising them on immigration, academic, financial, personal, and health insurance issues.

Kevin would like to visit South Korean universities and educational institutions. He would like to visit cultural and historical sites, government offices and the DMZ.

Molly Cormaney

  Molly is the Employee Development Specialist at Cedar Falls Utilities, the locally owned utility serving a community of 35,000. She is also an adjunct instructor at Upper Iowa University, where she teaches composition and literature courses. She has a B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Northern Iowa. Molly is involved in her community, serving on the United Way Emerging Leaders Committee, the Community Main Street Business Retention & Expansion Committee, the Rensselaer Russell House Museum Board, and the University of Northern Iowa Leadership Studies Advisory Board.

Molly is 36, married with no children. She and her husband have five dogs. Molly enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys learning more about a lot of things, including other cultures, commercial aviation, the presidency of Abraham Lincoln, and the American Civil War. She would like to visit with management and human resources personnel, and with corporate wellness professionals. She is also interested in visiting a utility company or a university. She hopes to visit many cultural and historical sites; she would like to spend some time in Seoul and to visit the DMZ if possible.

Laura Karlen

  Laura is a self-employed Agricultural and Environmental Consultant with an emphasis in agriculture and energy. She was a previous Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.

Laura is 34 and single. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese.

In D-3710, she would like to visit farms, renewable energy industry, agricultural products industry (specifically bio fibers), electric car and hybrid technologies, natural resource conservation efforts.

Steve Hinderhofer

  Steve is a Health Education teacher in the Grundy Center School System. He grew up in Long Island, New York.

Steve is 25 and single.

He would like to visit schools, both undergraduate and college level. He has an interest in music, culture and arts and would enjoy any related visits. He is also interested in Public Health and Service Volunteer Work and he has traveled throughout the United States and to Mexico.
