Roger Kueter

RogerRogerRoger Kueter has been a Cedar Falls Rotarian since 1970, however invited and joined the Bellevue, Iowa Club in 1964. A past president of The Cedar Falls Club, Roger is the long-time District’s Chair of the Ambassadorial Scholarship Committee. On July 1, 2010 Roger assumed the duties and responsibilities of District Governor of District 5970.  Prior to that he was Chair of the District’s Gates’ Polio Match efforts.  By profession, Roger is professor and director of community college projects at The University of Northern Iowa (UNI).  Before moving into this role he was Department Head of Teaching and Director of the Office of Student Field Experiences for many years. His particular interests are in preparing preservice educators.  In recent years he has provided leadership and instruction in the delivery of UNI programs to location-bound and career-changing Iowans. The key to the success of the programs has been the participation of university faculty and partnerships with Iowa Community Colleges in the delivery of programs via distant format. He has been instrumental in preparing and directing a series of Federal grants to make these programs a reality for Iowans.

Kueter earned his degrees from Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa, and Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.  Dr. Kueter joined the faculty of the University of Northern Iowa in 1970.  In addition to his University responsibilities, Roger Kueter is a member of the Cedar Falls Utilities Board of Trustees, a member of American Martyrs Retreat House Board, and long-time Knight of Columbus.  Roger Kueter is a community leader in fund raising doing benefit auctions, where he has assisted with raising millions of dollars over the years for Columbus Central Catholic High School, Rotary, Hospice, Hartman Nature Reserve, West High School Foundation, Sartori Hospital Festival of Trees, Oster Community Theatre, Cancer Society, United Way and many other organizations.

Roger and his wife Barbara have been married for 45 years.  Barb retired from a career also at The University of Northern Iowa where she was employed by the Graduate College as dissertation and thesis reviewer. Her hobbies include gardening, reading, and volunteering at church and in the community.  She is also active in several community-based organizations.



The Kueters are parents of three adult children, all of whom are married and live in Iowa. Kelly is Director, Office of Business Operations at The University of Northern Iowa; Dan is CEO, UnitedHealthcare, Iowa and Central Illinois; and Sarah is the Clinical Pharmacist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. The Kueters are proud grandparents of nine grandchildren, six boys and three girls.
