February, 2009 TO: Rotary District Presidents and Secretaries FROM: Roger Kueter DGN RE: Rotary Foundation Recognition Points
IMPORTANT Announcement. The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is in the process of making some changes. The one that we need to address immediately deals with the Paul Harris “Foundation Recognition Points” On June 30, 2009 a change will occur. However take care of this ASAP, as it usually takes TRF weeks to process and you don’t want to be sending your recommendations in toward the deadline. Please don’t miss this opportunity to utilize your club’s Foundation Recognition Points. Information about Foundation Recognition Points is described in the Foundation Recognition Points Fact Sheet. http://www.rotary.org/RIdocuments/en_pdf/foundation_recognition_points_fact_sheet_en.pdf
TO DO: Access your Club Foundation report “The Rotary Foundation-Club Recognition Summary” This is found on the Rotary Web site: www.rotary.org, View C R S If you need assistance, District Executive Secretary John Last will be able to help. NOW if you have points in the column “Foundation Recognition Pts” for deceased or past Rotarians you must transfer or award to another Rotarian, spouse, or community member etc. who you want to recognize and give credit toward completing or working toward a Paul Harris Fellow. Points of active Rotarians will continue to be accumulated and available for transfer, but under the new guidelines. Use the Recognition and Transfer Request Form 102 (available on the Rotary Web site) to transfer individual, club or district Foundation Recognition Points when a cash contributions is not part of the transaction.

Paul Harris Fellow medallions will not be provided automatically but will be available for purchase. 2. The individual donor will be the only person authorized to transfer Foundation recognition points. 3. Foundation recognition points will expire upon the death of the donor or the death of the surviving spouse of a Major Donor (US$10,000+). 4. Foundation recognition points and recognition amounts will only be transferred for transactions of 500 points or more.
